Peaceful Patience
The Eagles
It's comin' on the end of August
Another summer's promise almost gone
And though I heard some wise man say
That every dog will have his day
He never mentioned that these dog days get so long
I don't know when I realized the dream was over
Well, there was no particular hour, no given day
You know, it didn't go down in flame
There was no final scene, no frozen frame
I just watched it slowly fade away
And I've been waiting in the weeds
Waiting for my time to come around again and
Hope is floating on the breeze
Carrying my soul high up above the ground and
I've been keepin' to myself
Knowin' that the seasons are slowly changing you
And though you're with somebody else
He'll never love you like I do
I've been biding time with the crows and sparrows
While peacocks prance and strut upon the stage
If finding love is just a dance
Proximity and chance
You will excuse me if I skip the masquerade
And I've been waiting in the weeds
Waiting for the dust to settle down along the
Back roads running through the fields
Lying on the outskirts of this lonesome town
And I imagine sunlight in your hair
You're at the county fair
You're holding hands and laughing
And now the Ferris wheel has stopped
You're swinging on the top
Suspended there with him
And he's the darling of the chic
The flavor of the week is melting
Down your pretty summer dress
Baby, what a mess you're making
I've been stumbling through some dark places
Now I'm following the plow
I know I've fallen out of your good graces
It's alright now
And I've been waiting in the weeds
Waiting for the summer rain to fall upon the
Wild birds scattering the seeds
Answering the calling of the tide's eternal tune
The phases of the moon
The chambers of the heart
The egg and dart
A small gray spider spinning in the dark
In spite of all the times the web is torn apart
And I've been waiting in the weeds
Waiting for the time to come around again and
Hope is floating on the breeze
Carrying my soul high up above the ground and
I've been keepin’ to myself
Knowing that the seasons are slowly changing you
And though you're with somebody else
He'll never love you like I do

It's Just the Spin Cycle
Start Time: 1:14 PM
The word for the weekend: Drama!
It's official-- Leigh has the funk. The same funk that almost did me in a week ago. We need another Do-It-Yourself IV, stat.
It all started with the ice not freezing...
Justy: "WILSON!"
The purse party part of the evening went off without a hitch. Leigh helped me pick out a stylish purse-- she is making me over one piece at a time.
Then it was on to the Sugar & Spice party... Here drama unfolded... Let's just say, "Seriously?! Am I to blame here? I don't think so!"
You have to go through some processes there...
Even the sales lady was drama-rama... telling us about her 400lbs ex husband that she left for his best friend... but it was ok b/c her husband was fooling around with THAT guy's wife.
"Does she think she's black?"
This was all aided by more CRANAPPLE BLAST!
This time we tried it with cranberry vodka-- good plan. This became esp helpful as the international texts from THE DRAGON began.
"You are so sad."
Really? I'm sad? ya think?
Needless to say this led to McBritain drama... poor guy. A week in the US seems to be a good idea... esp after a slap in the face by fate... COME ON McBRITAIN! (We know you're reading this!)
This is where Leigh's GI tract decided to shut down.
This is something I can relate to. Justy made the ultimate sacrifice-- heading into the QuickSak, in pjs, with WONKY hair to get the magic potion: Orange (NOT BLUE, BITCHES) Gatorade.
Justy: "Don't go towards the light, Leigh!"
(muffled giggles from Leigh)
**For safety sake we kept her at a distance... she took over my spot on the couch, infecting all my bedding... and we took refuge in the kitchen... where Justy, in a fit of nervousness over McBritain, began cleaning and disinfecting everything. She put us in a BUBBLE! Then, when things got very stressful, she did the UNTHINKABLE!! She organized the damn pantry! For real!! "Forward Progress!"
Sadly, like the washer, Leigh tummy is still on spin cycle mode-- they even make some of the same noises. Quite disconcerting, really. I am scared to try to move her to the car... and even more afraid to put the car in motion. I think if someone had slapped my ass in a car last Sunday, that would have been the end. Well, of the car's upholstry anyway.
So here we are. Justy is trying to force stomach meds on Leigh. Leigh is turning greener @ the mere mention of THE PINK STUFF. (Justy: "Just trying to help....")
And to top it all off... McB seems to have fallen off the planet. This is also disconcerting.
(Justy:"Where'd he go?")
So we have watched Walk the Line... McSigh... and now we are on to Pretty Woman... "I want the fairy tale..."
Uh oh folks! She's back!!
(giggles) "Asshole! There's a word! That's my favorite word!" ~Leigh

You Think YOU'RE Tired?!
me: hahahahahaha
JW: Isn't that bizarre?
me: I loveit
JW: Of all the pics they could've used.
JW: I also love that the penguin has a ghetto gold chain.
JW: And mutton chops.
JW: "This penguin is exhausted from being a bad-ass 70s Elvis lookalike."

Donde esta los plane??
Location: Vegas Airport
Starting Time: 6:15pm
Another Vegas Adventure is coming to a close. It has been another fantastic trip... even though I am fairly confident I (Wilson) was near death. There have been many firsts on this trip-- first time we got IN the fountain in front of the Paris (insert the WOOP WOOP noise police cars make here)...
First time we have seen it rain-- NOT fun...
And then there are the old standards-- NAPOLEON'S... damn we love that place! So many good times and memories there. Wilson even got called out this time-- Thanks David! We made more new friends there this year-- "Glasses"-- she knew the words to EVERY song-- so COOL!
"Scarf"-- we selected her from the crowd outside and motioned her in-- "ME?!" She said... she was wild.
The ladies from San Francisco that let us join them on our couch... the Canadian that Leigh had a slight language barrier with. The guy from CA there on a family reunion-- he's 47, in case you needed to know. And of course, our best buddies there: Billy & David. Sheer geniuses!
Today-- as Wilson is back among the living-- we took a stroll through Bally's and reminsced from Oct... CHOI! Lacy... meeting the Dragon... stalking breaks... Stripes: "Girls!". We even had a drink at OUR table @ the bar. It is kind of strange being in Vegas and knowing that McBritain is not going to randomly walk by... he has become a big part of our Vegas experience... and we miss him & his blue shirt not being around.
Of course, one of our favorite activities here is people watching... we have seen fanny packs, mardi gras beads, confused/ lost/ disoriented people galore... mismatched couples, zebra print pants, and old ladies in scooters abound... we saw a homeless man rummage through a trash can, pull out a beer bottle and proceed to drink from it. And for several people, it seems bad 80's hairstyles are making a comeback... or perhaps they never left in the first place. At the gate @ the airport there were 2 marines-- one completely shitfaced. I mean STUMBLING drunk. Apparently he got quite sick on the flight home-- threw up on some people and passed out in the floor. The cops were waiting to assist him off the plane. Ooh Rah!
HOLY BEANS! (aka frijoles)

Random Airport Observations
~No matter how good an idea it seems, greasy Sbarro pizza is NOT always a great plan.
~Massive groups of travelling teenagers are annoying
~"TEXAS DEATH MATCH!" is **not** what you want to hear yelled across the food court.
~Delayed flights blow.
~No one, no matter how tough, should ever wear a Louis Vuitton VISOR... esp backwards
~The Burger King Bitch means business-- Don't get crazy!
~Banging metal on metal in the food court does not endear you to anyone. Nor does yelling, "Oh Balls!"
~The smell of Burger King mixed with feet is gross.
~"Big honkin'" is great adjective usage-- as in "all they had was this big honkin' straw"
Airport Quotes from us
~"Oh f*** me! Are they cheering?" - Justy, in response to a cheerleading convention in the terminal
~"People shouldn't wear viking hats... or bluetooths." - Saundra
~"No one seems surprised when we say we're from TN"
~"Control your luggage!"
~"Have a Southwest Day!"

Mixed Signals
The book makes you aware that things won't ALWAYS work out... not every story has a happy ending. And while not ALL the characters had happy endings-- there were MANY exceptions to Greg's proposed ways. I'm really curious what his thoughts on the script were. I'm sure he had some say-so in it...
The movie was sweet, if somewhat predictable. I liked it. It just didn't jive completely with the book, which was frustrating. (Trust me, Leigh was WAY more pissed than I was!)
So if you compare the book and movie, I'm sad to say it will leave you like most relationships-- confused by mixed signals.
